How Sliced Grew from a Wholesale Bakery to a Cotswold Bakery Destination

A Bakery Favourite

There’s something special about watching a local business grow, especially when it begins with decades of experience, passion, and an uncompromising love of flavour. This is the Cotswolds Bakery story behind Sliced, how we evolved from a small wholesale operation into a destination bakery that people travel across the Cotswolds (and beyond) to visit.

The Experience Behind the Name

At the heart of Sliced is Lynne and over 35 years of baking expertise. Lynne’s journey into baking began under the guidance of the legendary Joyce Molyneux at The Carved Angel in Dartmouth. From there, she refined her craft as a pâtisserie chef in some of the South West’s finest boutique hotels.

Known for her exceptionally high standards and meticulous attention to detail, Lynne has always put flavour first. Using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, she creates cakes that don’t just look beautiful, they taste truly unforgettable. That foundation of excellence is what makes this Cotswolds Bakery so special.

Where It All Began

Before Sliced became a destination bakery, it began quietly as a wholesale business. We supplied local delis, cafés, and restaurants across the area, early mornings filled with baking, packing, and delivering. The focus was simple: create high-quality, handcrafted products that other businesses could proudly serve. Wholesale taught us discipline and consistency, and it strengthened our reputation across the region.

Growing Demand, A New Chapter

As word spread, so did demand. People began asking: “Where can we buy directly from you?”

What began as a wholesale bakery soon grew into something much more. Driven by that growing demand, Lynne brought her wealth of experience together with her daughter Charlotte to create Sliced, a place built on passion, quality, and craft. This marked the start of Cotswolds Bakery.

From Wholesale to Destination

Opening our doors to customers transformed everything. Instead of baking purely for delivery, we began baking for experience. The atmosphere, the display, and the connection suddenly mattered just as much as the bake itself. We carefully created a space that felt warm, welcoming, and worth lingering in, somewhere you could slow down and enjoy the moment.

We introduced seasonal specials, signature favourites, creative new launches, and monthly flavour drops that customers now wait for and plan around. There’s a real sense of excitement around what’s coming next.

People visit Sliced for so many different reasons. Some pop in for a treat and a great coffee, to meet friends, stay awhile, and grab a takeaway on their way through the Cotswolds. The bakery became more than a shop; it became somewhere people choose to visit. A stop on a Cotswolds weekend. A treat after a countryside walk. A place that feels part of the day’s plan rather than an afterthought.

We’ve also carefully curated our deli shelves to celebrate other local Cotswolds produce. Alongside our bakes, you’ll find a selection of regional products that reflect the quality and craftsmanship of our surroundings, supporting fellow local makers and bringing even more of the Cotswolds into the Sliced experience.

A Cotswolds Bakery with Heart

While Sliced has grown from its wholesale beginnings into a destination Cotswolds bakery, the values that built it remain exactly the same. Every cake is still made with the same care, the same attention to flavour, and the same belief that great baking starts with great ingredients.

What began as early-morning wholesale deliveries has evolved into a place where people gather, celebrate, and treat themselves. Whether you’re discovering Sliced for the first time or returning for a familiar favourite, every visit is part of the story we continue to build with our community.
